About Our Pastors
Pastor Eric Newson Sr.
Affectionately known as Pastor ‘E’; is a leader, a teacher, and a man of praise & worship that loves God and God’s people. Growing up in Little Mountain of Hope MB Church, he was like a son to his Pastor, the late Bishop Slayton Palms Jr. Bishop Palms saw something great in him and began to groom him in ministry. Pastor Newson preached his first sermon at the young age of 13 for their Men’s Day titled “Following the Vision to Build”, referencing the scripture Ecclesiastes 3:3. Bishop Palms was a great teacher and mentor to him.
Pastor Newson faithfully served Bishop Palms and Greater Mountain of Hope for over 35 years. He has held many positions in the ministry such as Youth Leader, Youth Minister, and Sunday School teacher. But the assignment that gave him the most honor was being an Armor Bearer to Bishop Palms, a role in which he dedicated himself to taking care of his leader until the passing of Bishop Palms in December 2020. After the passing of Bishop Palms, Pastor Newson began to seek the Lord for direction in his life and in 2021 he was licensed and ordained in the gospel. Since accepting the position of Pastor of Greater Mountain of Hope; he has focused on rebuilding the ministry and outreach in the community.
Pastor Newson is a husband, father, and grandfather. He has been married to Lady Kimberly Newson (Lady K) for over 16 years. Pastor Newson believes that if we can just recognize who we are in God and have faith in Him, we can do great things. His message is “There is Hope for you because you are destined for Greater”.
Lady Kimberly Newson
Lady Kimberly Newson is a woman of faith who is dedicated to the work of the Lord. She believes in serving God with Grace, Strength, and Resilience. Her service for God started at a young age at Trinity Bible Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of her uncle Pastor Judge Carthen, where she served in Youth Leadership and in the music ministry. After marrying her husband, she moved her membership to Greater (Little) Mountain of Hope and became a daughter and faithful servant to Bishop Slayton Palms. Working as his nurse and a Youth Leader, her service to the ministry stood out to many as she served with such a sweet spirit.
Lady K. and Pastor E. were married June 30, 2007. They have 6 beautiful children and 2 beautiful grandchildren. Along with being a devoted wife, she is a loving mother, and grandmother. She continues to support her husband and works diligently by his side!
She has a heart of gold and a spirit of generosity! She is a prayer warrior, a peacemaker, and a confidant. Though she embodies all these things and more, she only wants to be known as a child of God! Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11; For I know the thoughts I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace not of evil to give you an expected end.
